MEET RACHEL

Hi there!  I am owner and  lead photographer of  Rachel Elisabeth Photography!  I  am a follower of Jesus, married to my college sweetheart, dog momma to the best chocolate lab, Lucy and living in Raleigh, NC.  I  absolutely love to travel, I'm in my happy place when I am at Bald Head Island or in Charleston.  I  am a sucker for a glass of wine, good music, a Candlefish candle and cozied up in my LAKE pajamas. 

My job is about connecting with people and having them become more than just clients, but lifelong friends. Telling stories has always been my favorite, but words tend to get lost or forgotten so I tell them the best way I know how, through my lens. And with that, your wedding day comes to life years after the day is over with photos hung on the walls generations after you. I believe your story is unique and deserves to be told. It would be the biggest honor to tell it. Photography has been incredibly life-giving to me over the past 5 years and I am so thrilled to possibly be a part of your big day!

the process

FROM START TO FINISH

Well first, CONGRATULATIONS! This is such an exciting time for you and your fiance and I am honored you have considered me to be a part of it. I love that I get to be a part of the process helping my couples plan and prep for their special day ensuring everything is timely, runs smooth and that we have the best golden hour glow for bride and groom portraits! 

So what does the booking/planning/wedding process look like? I have sent you a few questions in your email that will allow me to get to know you and your fiance better. Once you're able to fill out those questions we will set up a time to chat via phone/facetime/coffee date to make sure we are a great fit! During your consultation I will answer any questions you may have, discuss how much coverage you may need on your wedding day, chat logistics and create a draft timeline for your wedding day to ensure everything will run smoothly. 

After our consultation and that we believe to be a great fit, I will send over a proposal. YAY! In your proposal you will find your contract and invoice. The deposit is 50% your total and the remaining balance is due 1 month before your wedding day. Honeybook is a user-friendly system and will be accessible through your email at any time. 

After booking, we will move forward with scheduling your engagement session and discussing styling! Most of my couples like to mention before their session "we are awkward", "we have no idea what we are doing" and always want to know "will you direct us throughout the session and tell us what to do?".


And the answer is YES. I will always guide my couples through their engagements, bridals and photographing y'all on the wedding day! It truly is so much fun and at the end of my engagement sessions, my couples ALWAYS tell me how much fun they had and how easy it really was. 
From there, we will move forward in scheduling bridal portraits (if you book them) and creating your wedding day timeline. We will base this off sunset on your actual wedding day and what you and your fiance want the day to look like. It is so important to me that you get to experience your wedding day how YOU want and that we create a custom timeline that compliments your dream. 

1-2 months out from your wedding day, I will send a questionnaire that will allow you to answer some questions I would like to have to be extra prepared for your big day. It will also allow you both to create a family portrait list to ensure a few things. 
1. That we don't miss any family combinations. 
2. That family portraits run efficient and are timely. 
3. That you don't have family members requesting their own Christmas card photo ops! 
 
Lastly we will set up a final time to speak 2 weeks before the big day to ensure that we are on the same page and are ready to go! On the big day, myself and second shooter (if you book one) will be with you and present the entire wedding day. I will guide you and your fiance through the timeline leading your bridal party and family through portraits before and after ceremony. During the reception we are photographing all the candids and getting the best dancing photos of y'all and your guests!

I work alongside a wedding album designer who will work with you customizing your perfect album. She will help style your spreads, design and make the process super easy and smooth!

engagement sessions

REP offers complimentary engagement sessions with all couples who book!  This allows us to get to know each other before the big day and allows you to feel more comfortable and ready behind the camera !  

When scheduling your engagement session, consider the season and style outfits you want to wear in your photos. It is also important to consider if you want to use your engagement session for your your save-the-date and when you would like to send those out to your guests!  When choosing a location I usually recommend somewhere other than your wedding venue to give you a variety of photos. I usually am in CHS a number of times a year and am always up to travel! 

Weekday sessions are always preferred since I am usually booked on the weekends traveling and shooting weddings especially during busy seasons! I love to plan engagement sessions around lighting and usually go for that golden hour glow about 1.5-2 hours before sunset. I do love to help my couples with styling their outfits and making sure colors/etc look great with chosen location as well.


Q: Do you always have a second shooter?
 A: No!  I have photographed over 50 weddings by myself  and  have no problem working solo. However the benefit of having a second shooter allows for more perspectives and photos you will receive back through your online gallery!

Q: Are we allowed to print the photos from our online gallery? 
A: YES! Your online galleries will allow you to make professional prints through their lab as well as download the files to your computer. I encourage all of my couples to save them to hard drives/computers/USB and are able to make prints from there as well. 

Q: Will you Photoshop my images to  hide any unwanted spots, acne etc? 
A:  Minor edits will be made to all of your images. but I believe  our imperfections  are what makes us beautiful and unique!  

Q: Do you photograph destination weddings?
A: YES! I have photographed in Turks and Caicos, Destin , FL and  all over the Southeast. 

Q: How do  we reserve our wedding day?
A:  A 50% deposit and signed contract is required to get your wedding date on the calendar. 

Q:  How many images will we receive and how will we receive them?  
A:  I deliver all images via an online gallery that make it super easy to download and view your images. For a wedding day, you can expect about 60-100 per hour of coverage.  Average wedding galleries are 700-1000+ images. Full gallery is delivered 6-8 weeks post wedding and sneak peeks are delivered with 2-3 days of your wedding. 

Q: Do you have a preferred list for vendors? 
A: Yes! I have worked with a number of incredible vendors and love recommending the best of the best! 

Q: Can I switch out an engagement session for a second shooter /bridal session etc? 
Possibly. Engagement sessions are complimentary but please ask for further discussion.
